Maureen Moore was born in Leeds, she attended Leeds College of Art as a part-time student. On leaving college she was employed as a fashion artist. In the early 1970's Maureen and her husband opened a small gallery in Main Street in Haworth, from which she sold many landscapes and portraits.
In the mid 1980's she moved to Mill Bank and quickly established a reputation in the Calderdale area and beyond - selling her work in Europe, Canada and the USA. She exhibited regularly at the Mall Galleries in London as well as holding several one woman exhibitions in West Yorkshire.
She has taught art at Adult Education Centres and in 1995 was made Companion of the International Guild of Artists. Maureen now lives and works from her studio in the village.
